ITC order Ideal World to broadcast apology

The ITC have ruled that the shopping channel Ideal World have breached the ITC Advertising Code, in relation to advertising for two products: Metasys, a green tea extract based diet supplement, designed to assist weight loss; and Moor Spa, a range of ingestible and cosmetic 'well-being' products.
The breaches concern making unauthorised medicinal claims about Moor Spa and Metasys, and infringing rules about the advertising of dietary supplements and weight loss products in respect of Metasys. Accordingly, Ideal World have been ordered to broadcast a formal apology to viewers and customers for any wrong information that was transmitted.
Ideal World have been advised that any similar breaches in the future could result in the imposition of a significant financial penalty.
