Doctor Who Christmas Special Announced

Doctor Who is to join forces with a comic-book superhero as part of this year's Christmas Day episode on BBC One, it has been announced.

The episode, named 'The Return of Doctor Mysterio', will see the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) team up with investigative journalist (played by Charity Wakefield) and a superhero to save New York from a deadly alien threat.

Writer and Executive Producer, Steven Moffat, said: "I've always loved superheroes and this Christmas Doctor Who dives into that world. My favourite superhero is Clark Kent. Not Superman, Clark Kent."

Justin Chatwin, who plays Grant in the Christmas special, commented: "Working with the amazing people at Doctor Who has been one of the most fun and rewarding projects I've ever had the pleasure of being involved with."

Also joining the cast will be Matt Lucas, Adetomiwa Edun, Aleksandar Jovanovic and Logan Hoffman.

The 60-minute Doctor Who Christmas Special will air on BBC One. It is written by Steven Moffat, Executive Produced by Brian Minchin, Produced by Peter Bennett and Directed by Ed Bazalgette.
