Technological advances from RPS Data Products

REIGATE based RPS Data Products have enhanced their 'video to film' software system, which can be seen in action at Soho-based production house Lipsync Post.
Since the launch of the system eight months ago, the RPS software has been employed on a wide range of high profile productions, such as 34 trailers for the film ‘Stuart Little 2’.
The necessary addition of an ARRI laser recorder has enabled Simon Burley, technical manager of RPS Data Products, to keep up with the rapid flow of demanding projects secured by head of film Kevin Phelan.
RPS are typically associated with PYRAL mag stock and data media products, however Directors Allan Curtis and Andy Gonzalez saw this as an ideal vehicle to break into the digital post production market. Along with this specialist transfer system they have instigated a strategy to become a major supplier of IT hardware and consumables to the film/video industry by pulling together an enviable resource of branded products.
Sales Director Andy Gonzalez chose not to develop a web based order system, saying: "We prefer to give our customers a highly personalised service. Of course a web site can offer a quick purchasing option if you already know what you are looking for. However in our experience buyers want our input before they select a particular model and then they are pleasantly surprised to find our prices are better than they could find elsewhere. A win-win situation!"
