Elstree Studios Celebrates Another Successful Year

Elstree Studios is celebrating a record year that saw studio utilisation at 98%, from top end light entertainment such as Strictly Come Dancing and The Voice; reality shows such as Big Brother; game shows such as Pointless and The Chase; and high end drama with Grantchester, Humans and new major series The Crown.

The Studio also reported that their new backlot is also now in use and plans are afoot for a new super studio for Film and TV with more workshops and production offices.

Managing Director, Roger Morris, said: "The industry needs more production space. Elstree Studios has re-established itself as one of the top UK Studios attracting work from across the Film and Television industry including many major Hollywood productions.

"This new development at our site will allow the studios to take advantage of an expanding market. Over the past few years, Elstree has managed to capture many of the major television productions in the UK and a number of major international feature films. We look forward to having more space to meet our client’s needs in the years ahead."

This year Elstree celebrates its 90th year birthday along with her majesty the queen, so it is ironic that the new series The Crown is based at Elstree Studios.
 
In addition, Roger Morris and Chairman Morris Bright are producing a series of live events and TV shows at the studios to celebrate its illustrious history and place in British Film and TV culture. Recorded interviews with stars such as Sylvia Syms, Madeline Smith and Nannette Newman are being made by Elstree and show on new film channel Talking Pictures TV.
 
Live events include a special On The Buses Day, evenings with a variety of stars, a special showing of School for Scoundrels, a George Lucas presentation, A Saint homage, plus a new book has been published by the Studios and written by Morris Bright documenting the history of Elstree Studios.
