Teldex Studio Berlin reborn with PMC

The world famous Teldec classical recording studios in Berlin has been reborn as Teldex Studio Berlin, giving the German capital its only truly world class music recording facility.
The now independent studio complex selected PMC surround sound monitoring for a newly constructed main control room, commissioned to complement the world famous 455 square meter orchestral recording hall across all musical genres and provide a premier production and mixdown facility. Control Room 1 provides teldex with a 60 square meter state of the art 5.1 production and tracking facility, based around PMC BB5-A active (LCR) and MB2 (Rear LR) high resolution monitoring and a 72 channel SSL 9000 J series console.
Joint managing director and head of engineering, Tobias Lehmann, confirms the effect of the new control room facility in the broadening the studio’s potential client base: “While the studio continues to attract large scale classical and opera sessions the new control room is also being hired for pop music and large scale mixdown projects and, together with the hall, for film soundtrack scoring.”
A 5.1 capability was required to accommodate film sound and multi-channel classical recording and the choice of monitoring was critically required to provide equally high standards of performance across a wide range of musical styles and production techniques. Lehmann was personally responsible for including PMC in the line up of manufacturers whose monitors were evaluated for the new room.
