Anton/Bauer Powers One Of The First 8K Productions

Ushering in a new generation of resolution, RED Digital Cinema's new 8K WEAPON camera has already been picked up by director and cinematographer Phil Holland, one of the first to use it for his short film Forged.

"We followed blacksmith Tony Swatton as he forged a modern fantasy take on the Roman Gladius sword. Once he started, we only had one chance to get the shot because the metal was constantly changing, so we needed reliable power for this new 8K camera," mentioned Holland.

For such a power-hungry camera, Holland chose to use Anton/Bauer's CINE 150 battery for one of the first 8K productions in the world.

"The new CINE line is short, cubic, and the form factor fits these modern digital cinema cameras perfectly. Other batteries tend to protrude above the camera, but the CINE is low profile and keeps the camera balanced and weighted properly. It's the first time we've seen any innovation in terms of design."

With 12 amps of continuous power and next generation Li-Ion cell technology, the CINE battery is specifically designed for high-power, digital cinema style cameras. It's PowerTap for 14V accessories powered Holland’s Litepanels Astra LED lights while its Fuse Link technology protected the battery in case of a cell anomaly or severe impact.

"We didn't have the opportunity for any major camera down time. So between the CINE's long runtime and compact size, we could shoot all day and get the camera in places that would've been impossible with a larger battery."
