Nevion To Demo IP Tech At NAB

News Image
Nevion will use NAB 2016 to demonstrate the ease of transition to IP for broadcasters, it has been announced. At the show, the company will exhibit equipment from other vendors from the Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS), with a host interoperability demonstrations based on open industry standards including SMPTE 2022-6 and TR-03.

Nevion will also outline its vision of a virtualized media production, showcasing how VideoIPath and products like the NX4600 H.264/AVC media gateway are stepping stones in the journey towards fulfilling that vision.

VideoIPath is a service and network management system that brings connection management, service assurance and network inventory capabilities to the broadcast workflow, helping broadcasters increase revenue by optimising network resources. It uses software-defined networking (SDN) to deliver scalable performance demanded by broadcasters when it comes to the transport of media services. VideoIPath also adds flexibility through features such as automation and self-service options.

Also on the Nevion stand will be the NX4600 Media Gateway compression platform, which offers high-quality H.264/MPEG-4 AVC encoding and decoding. The platform provides a trade-off between bandwidth usage and low latency, resulting in high video quality, with best-in-class user-friendliness and reliability.

Nevion will also feature its full product offering, both baseband and IP, including the latest updates to the Flashlink optical transport range, the VikinX compact hybrid routers, and the cProcessor TS adaptation, processing and multiplexing equipment.

"As a company we're focused on working with our broadcast clients to provide them with the best IP-based solutions that will ultimately assist in increasing efficiencies and maximizing productivity – whether that is working with them on the transition from baseband to IP, or implementing full IP solutions," said Geir Bryn-Jensen, CEO, Nevion. "More and more broadcasters are realizing the benefits of using IP, from cost-efficiency to enhanced flexibility – particularly when you consider the importance of open standards and interoperability, and the role they will place in long-term sustainability."
