GatesAir Announces Upgrade Programme

News Image
GatesAir has announced an upgrade programme for its global base of television customers. The news follows a similar initiative – the Flexiva Power Up Program – which offered radio broadcasters an exciter upgrade in previous-generation transmitters.

The new programme, known as the Maxiva M2X-CHANGE program, those who own older generation TV transmitters can transition to the software-defined M2X with an in-the-field exciter swap. It applies to both GatesAir and other suppliers' models. Specific to the GatesAir exciter portfolio, the program is ideal for CD-1, CD-1A and Apex exciters, many of which remain active in the field.

Supporting analog TV and all worldwide DTV standards, the M2X exciter enabled field-upgradable digital transitions, as well as upgrades to emerging digital standards, such as migrating from DVB-T to DVB-T2, without significant labour and reconfiguration. The M2X also integrates GatesAir's RTAC real-time adaptive correction software for continuous transmitter performance monitoring, and continuously updates internal correction algorithms to maximize signal quality.

Rich Redmond, chief product officer, GatesAir, said: "The Maxiva M2X exciter upgrade is a simple, smart investment to improve signal performance and lower operating costs based on its exceptional spectral performance, energy efficiency and optional IP connectivity. In many cases, transitioning to the M2X will also increase the robustness of your digital signal, enabling broadcasters to improve coverage and reach more viewers."

The Maxiva M2X-CHANGE Program reduces the cost of a new M2X exciter from $23,000 to $10,500. The complete package includes the exciter, an installation kit with cables and mounting hardware, and a video installation guide.
