New monitoring solution from Sony

Sony Broadcast & Professional UK have unveiled their two new professional monitor series products to provide cost-effective, high-quality viewing and monitoring solution in mainstream broadcast applications.
The LMD-650 is a new 6.5 inch monitor that uses the latest developments in Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) technology to provide a combination of high-picture resolution in a very compact, lightweight design chassis.
According to Bill Drummond, Product Manager at Sony Broadcast and Professional UK, these new models provide new cost effective entry points into the market's leading technology developer.
"Whether it's increased space savings in monitor racks, tripod mounted, or outdoor monitoring facilities, these new models provide a range of new advanced applications and usage," he said.
Available in 20 and 14-inch monitors with a choice of EBU or P22 phosphors, the PVM-L Series offers high-quality monitoring facilities for the production/post-production markets.
Compared to previous PVM models, the L Series displays a significant reduction in vertical size, providing real space savings in monitor racks. A salient feature of this new monitor is the ease with which multiple monitors can be configured in a wall with auto-white balance settings using a Sony probe. In monitor wall applications, the PVM-L series integrate multiple monitor control capabilities using serial remote control techniques.
The new LMD-650 6.5-inch LCD monitor is designed to compliment Sony's Trinitron Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) range of monitor products. Its compact and lightweight design lends this advanced monitor to applications where space is at a premium, such as in Outside Broadcast (OB) vehicles. Two LMD-650 monitors can be mounted in a single rack mounting system to create even more space savings inside OB trucks.
"The LMD-650 provides the best of both worlds in terms of image quality and portability," Bill Drummond said.
"This new model is strategically important since it provides a new monitor solution within the Sony family. Feedback from IBC was just very positive especially with reference to the amazing picture performance."
