BVE To Launch AV & Live Entertainment Theatre

BVE, the premier event for the UK broadcast, media and entertainment industries, has announced that it will be launching an AV & Live Entertainment Theatre.

The show is taking place from 23 – 25 February at ExCeL London.

As part of London Entertainment Week and in recognition of the increasing convergence between the broadcast and AV markets, the new theatre marks the show’s latest expansion in to the Pro Audio market and will be situated in the dedicated AV and Live Entertainment Zone. Visitors to the show will be treated to case studies, demos, panels, debates and master classes, highlighting different sectors and issues concerning the AV industry.

Keynote speaker, Solomon Rogers, Founder, Creative Technologist, 3D/VR/VFX Artist & University Lecturer at REWIND will talk on 'The latest experimental technologies for the live event industries'. Rogers will explore examples of experimental ways lighting and sound displays increase the user engagement experience. He will go on to provide the audience with a walk through on how experimental technologies such as ibeacons - RFID, catch box, Internet of Things, wearable tech, interactive apps are used across industries.

A focal point of the seminar programme presents a great example of de-mystifying the complex technology needed for immersive installations with live projection mapping. Circuit, a four year national programme connecting 15-25 year olds to the arts in galleries and museums, is working with Tate (the umbrella under which four of Britain’s finest art galleries sit) on art installations that engage this younger audience. Dan Crompton, AV Service Manager at Tate and Hannah Kemp Welch, Digital Producer and Artist at Circuit will discuss the journey to installation and audience engagement, and the technical AV challenges they have had to solve.

Attendees will also be treated to the hotly anticipated session showcasing the National Theatre Live in 4K UHD. Emma Keith, Producer and Head of Broadcast at National Theatre Live and Christopher Bretnall, Technical Producer at Creative Broadcast Solutions, will discuss the technology and logistics behind the 4K broadcasts of four productions, illustrated with clips of famous performances including the record breaking Hamlet, starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

For attendees with a live event focus Ola Melzig, Technical Director of Eurovision 2016, will be providing a case study on the technical direction of live shows, delving in to what is required to produce a show such as Eurovision. Ola will illuminate audience members on the amalgamation of high-end broadcast with live sound, highlighting the challenges and essential checklists as well as covering all aspects from live mixing to the design and rigging of the stage.

The AV and Live Entertainment Theatre also features the 'Big Debate: The AV media distribution delivery roadmap', chaired by Clive Couldwell, Editor, AV Magazine with panellists Owen Ellis, Chairman of AV Users Group and Chris Mcintyre Brown, Associate Director Displays & Broadcast Equipment at Futuresource. The panellists will touch on digital domain evolution, IT to AV workflow interoperability as well as content security and protocols, and other issues that are being faced.
