Knibbs joins Vue as COO
Vue, the UK’s leading developer and operator of state-of-the-art-cinemas, today announced that Steve Knibbs has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer of Vue Entertainment.
Knibbs joins from United Cinemas International (UCI) where he was Senior Vice President, Northern Europe with responsibility for the strategic development and operational management of UCI’s multiplex cinemas throughout the UK and Northern Europe. Knibbs will report to Tim Richards, CEO of Vue.
Speaking of Knibbs' appointment, Richards said: "Steve is joining Vue at a very exciting time. His appointment completes our exceptional senior management team. Having been involved in every UCI multiplex opening since the first multiplex cinema in the UK at Milton Keynes in 1985, he is a seasoned exhibition executive who has an unrivalled track record for delivering results in the cinema industry. Steve also brings with him a wealth of industry contacts, unrivalled operational, retail and marketing know how and outstanding leadership skills."
Commenting on his new role, Knibbs said: "After 16 years at UCI, I am looking forward to being part of Tim’s team and to working with them on the many new challenges ahead. Vue is a dynamic and fast growing company with a great vision and future; I am delighted that I am going to play a central role in helping to move the company forward."
Knibbs has been a Board Member of British Film Council since 2002 and prior to that was on the Executive Board of the Cinema Exhibitors Association from 1993 to 1998.
Vue (pronounced 'view') is the name of a company formed in May 2003 by the acquisition of Warner Village Cinemas by SBC International Cinemas. The new Vue 40 UK cinema circuit has 384 screens and over 25 million attendances a year.
