Virage launch new rich media learning software

Virage have announced a new enterprise application for rich media training and e-learning.
VS Learning enables companies to create, manage, publish and view on-demand training courses and other presentations containing video and other rich media information. The solution is available from Virage both as a licensed software product and as a hosted service.
Dave Girouard, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Strategy for Virage, said: "Training and e-learning are break-out applications for streaming media in corporations today. The economic justification for delivering training material online is clear and powerful.
"But until today, the industry has lacked an enterprise-scale software solution that is both powerful and secure yet simple and intuitive for content authors and learners. VS Learning provides employees with simple and fast access to critical rich media training anywhere and anytime it's needed."
With VS Learning, content authors can create their own course materials using any of 48 customisable browser-based templates that offer a variety of layouts, frame sizes and supported data formats. All rich media assets and templates used to create courses are stored and managed centrally, allowing sharing and re-purposing of course materials and templates and providing improved security for sensitive corporate information.
Authored courses are also stored and distributed via the server, ensuring controlled distribution of courses and presentations. VS Learning supports both the Microsoft and RealNetworks' streaming formats as well as Macromedia Flash, MS Office files and Adobe Acrobat.
Courses authored using VS Learning audio are automatically synchronised with PowerPoint slides, transcripts, or other images. The author can then attach audio, HTML pages, PDF files and any Microsoft Office document to create compelling, rich media training materials for learners.
