NTP Technology Increases DAD AX32 Capabilities
NTP Technology has announced a major expansion to the versatility of its DAD AX32 ultra-high quality analog/digital/analog interface, as well as two additions to the range of optional plug-in cards.
The new AX32 Converter System Firmware v.2.0 provides support for MADI and AES3 I/O cards.
In addition, the new DADman v.5.0 control software will enable direct control of the AX32 using NTP Technology's existing Pro | Mon and new Cue | Mix functionality plus support, allowing control via the Avid Eucon protocol.
The internal signal capacity of the AX32 has been increased to 128 input/output channels per card slot, while the internal matrix now has an enhanced capacity of 1,500 x 1,500 crosspoints allowing routing and splitting of signal in any combination.
The AX32's internal processing engine is capable of providing PPM level information and level control for all 1,500 input and outputs. These can be viewed on a standard PC control screen when viewing signals in the new DADman 5.0 software.
This new functionality in is addition to the 256 x 32 summing processing which is used to provide Pro | Mon monitor control. A user-configurable low latency cue mixer, Cue | Mix has also been added.
NTP Technology has also increased its range of I/O cards for the AX32, with the introduction of a dual MADI I/O module plus an 8 Line I/O AES3 (AES/EBU) module with optional sampling rate conversion. These can be installed as plug-in modules and configured from the control software.
The new cards supplement the existing eight channel Pristine Analogue Line input card, the eight channel Pristine Analogue Mic/Line input card, eight channel Pristine Analogue Line output card and the dual 3G SDI embedder/de-embedder card with sampling rate converter. Up-to eight cards of the digital type can be installed and up-to six of the analogue cards can be accommodated. It is also possible to accommodate six analogue plus two digital cards at the same time.
All features of the new cards – plus the new AX32 Converter System Firmware v.2.0 – are managed and controlled via DADman v. 5.0. NTP Technology's Converter System Firmware v.2.0 can be installed on all new and existing AX32 units. DADman v.5.0 is scheduled for release at the end of November 2015 as a free download.
Housed in a compact 2U chassis, the NTP Technology DAD AX32 is designed for use in audio recording and mixing as well as post-production. The AX32 comes as standard with an interface for Avid Pro Tools and eight AES/EBU and MADI inputs and outputs. It can also be fitted with a Dante IP audio interface and two optical MADI interfaces.
Users of NTP Technology DAD audio converters include Abbey Road Studios, Bauer Studios, DPA Microphones, McGill University, Moscow Music Conservatory, NDR Hamburg, QVC shopping channel, Royal Opera House London, Sidney Opera House, St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and Ultimo Productions to name a few.
