Soho Editors Shows Europe How It's Done

News Image
Alan Bradbury is the resident certified trainer at Soho Editors' Manchester Training Centre.

The second week of September sees the IBC (International Broadcasting Convention), hosted at Amsterdam's RAI. It's a particularly busy time for Soho Editors, which sees us co-hosting an FCP EXPO at the Spaces Zuidas.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll know that the IBC exhibition – now in its 48th year, having first been hosted in London way back in 1967 – is the principal event for anyone involved in the creation, management and delivery of entertainment and news content worldwide. From those fairly humble beginnings way back in the Swinging Sixties, IBC has grown to a point where it now attracts well over 50,000 attendees, from over 170 countries, with a number of other related events going on around the IBC Expo too. Needless to say, this means Amsterdam is definitely the place to be from the 10th to the 15th of September if you are even remotely involved in the industry.

There's certainly plenty of good reasons to want to attend the exhibition, not least of which is Soho Editors' own FCP EXPO, which takes place on the weekend of the 12-13th September at the Spaces Zuidas. This sees Soho Editors partnering up with FCP Works, to facilitate presentations from Apple, Blackmagic, AJA, FX Factory and Softron.

Like everything else in and around the IBC Exhibition, it's all aimed at putting you on the cutting edge of where video editing and post production effects stand not only today, but for the foreseeable future. Highlights include a presentation from Apple Product Marketing on Final Cut Pro X, with Soho Editors augmenting this presentation courtesy of our FCPX Creative Workflows presentation, and FCP Works covering multi-user and feature production workflows, with a number of case studies. Blackmagic's 4K outside broadcast truck will be making an appearance, demoing what Blackmagic have to offer, alongside demonstrations of AJA's 4K products too. FX Factory's multiple VFX also put in an appearance, as does Softron's multicam capture and editing. As if that and everything else IBC has to offer was not enough, there's over 8,000 Euros-worth of giveaways to get your mitts on!

Take a virtual trip to www.sohoeditors.com where you can find out more about IBC and our FCP EXPO.

You'd think this would be enough for us to have on our plate at the moment here at Soho Editors, however, you might notice something different about our website when you do take a look there.

Yup that's right, it's all completely new, but it's more than a mere facelift; it's a more user-friendly experience, with a whole host of features to enable your search for training and post-production staff easier and more cost effective for you too. We certainly hope you can make it to Amsterdam to see us in September, but even if you can't, why not pay us a virtual visit?

We think you'll find that worth your while too.
