Trilogy Communications Deployed For Summer Live Festival Coverage

Trilogy Communications deployed its Mercury VoIP intercom technology to link The Wellington Academy, an academic and educational institution in Ludgershall, Wiltshire, UK, to nearby Castledown Radio for coverage of the 2015 'Summer Live Festival', which included coverage of activities commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.

The requirement was for Year 9 Wellington Academy 'Radio Enrichment' students to develop their skills by broadcasting three live shows each day of the festival from disparate locations in town and on campus.

Trilogy Product Sales Manager John Sparrow is a long-time volunteer at Castletown Radio. He said: "The programmes were fully produced and presented by the students, who interviewed staff, pupils and visiting dignitaries as well as editing all items into a very professional programme output. We were delighted to help them do this, and expose them to leading technology in the form of Mercury that will serve them well should they continue one day in the professional radio world."

Baz Reilly, Castledown Radio presenter, teacher and volunteer, added: "Trilogy's Mercury technology proved to be robust and reliable and enabled us to transport high quality audio between the sites for the entire week. This enabled the students' radio shows to be broadcast over the air, via the internet, and within the atrium at The Wellington Academy campus. Not only did the students do a great job, they learned a lot about contemporary technology and helped make the 2015 Summer Festival a huge success."

The Wellington Academy was opened by HRH The Duke of York in 2009, and covers Tidworth, Ludgershall, and surrounding villages.

Castledown Radio is an OFCOM licensed community radio station that broadcasts on 104.7FM.
