PMC supplies surround sound monitoring for The Hospital

PMC has supplied a large scale, surround sound monitoring system to The Hospital, a major new music recording and High Definition television production facility in London’s Covent Garden.
Described as a "facility for music, art and film professionals", The Hospital has been founded by US investor and Microsoft co-founder Paul G Allen and musician, filmmaker, Eurythmic and Creative Director Dave Stewart. The now completed first phase of the development, on the site of the former St Paul’s Hospital, combines the first major music production facility to open in London’s West End for many years and is hailed as Europe’s first High Definition television production studio.
Installed in the Music Control Room, the high resolution, fully active PMC monitor system comprises BB5 XBD-A cabinets in left, right and centre positions, with MB2S-A cabinets in the rear field. Sited in the lower basement, adjacent to the 250 sq m TV shooting stage and live recording area, the Music Control Room is based around a 96 channel SSL MT plus digital production console. Above, in the upper basement, is the Television Production Control studio and the smaller Live Broadcast (audio) Control Room; when filming or on-air, any music mix is fed from Music Control Room to Live Broadcast Control Room. Extensive networking throughout the building tie-lines all studio areas and enables the large ground floor gallery space to double as an additional broadcast area.
