Doc Martin Returns To ITV

Filming has begun on a new series of ITV's Doc Martin, starring Martin Clunes.

Clunes reprises his role as Dr. Martin Ellingham in eight new episodes of the drama produced by Buffalo Pictures, set in Port Wenn in Cornwall. Filming has just begun on location in Port Isaac with all regular members of the cast returning.

Audience figures since the series was introduced in 2004 have averaged in excess of 9m viewers, according to ITV.

Over 800 local people turned up for auditions in Port Isaac for extras roles in the new series earlier this month.

Philippa Braithwaite is producing the series and Mark Crowdy will executive produce. Directors are Nigel Cole, Charles Palmer and Ben Gregor. The writers are Jack Lothian, Richard Stoneman and Julian Unthank.

Doc Martin has been recommissioned for ITV by Steve November and Victoria Fea.

Doc Martin is screened worldwide including in Africa, Australia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Italy, Russia, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland, Sweden, Uruguay and Venezuela.
