TSL wins contract to update Stornaway studio

Television Systems Ltd (TSL) have announced that they have won a contract to update the existing video system at the studios at Taigh Shìphoirt, Stornoway, to digital widescreen.
The installation is ongoing and the first use of the newly installed facilities is scheduled for March 25.
The contract will update the existing system to provide new VTR, server, graphics and editing areas, and there will also be a new audio post-production facility for sound dubbing.
The studio managers wanted the facility to be flexible enough to be able to produce a variety of programmes, and so TSL had to provide a competitive solution without compromising quality or ease of operation.
TSL have an established relationship with the installation at Stornoway – the first studio was designed and installed by TSL in 1993. For this latest project, TSL arranged various demonstrations at its premises in Maidenhead to enable the customer to make final equipment decisions. TSL's audio monitoring and UMD systems, with both custom and standard products, were included as part of the contract.
The Taigh Shìphoirt Studio has been a base for producing Gaelic television programmes since 1993 and Tarlas Ltd, a Stornoway-based broadcast services company, was appointed to manage the studio facilities.
Television Systems Ltd (TSL) was established in 1986 and manufactures a number of its own products – UMD and Tally systems, audio-monitoring equipment and many other products.
