Miller Auctions LP '54 Classic Tripod

Miller Camera Support has auctioned off another of its LP '54 Classic Tripods during a 25th anniversary event hosted by professional products and services provider AbelCine at its Burbank facility.

Camera operator David Roy Tondeur, SOC, was the winner of the Classic Tripod, which was hand-built from remaining components left after the last production run of the Light Professional (LP).

The company has produced 40 of the tripods for worldwide distribution in honour of Miller's 60th anniversary. Each LP '54 is numbered and comes with its own certificate of authentication and wooden encasement, which is crafted from the finest Australian Blackwood.

"While I first started out in the industry years ago working as a clapper loader, I later worked for Dixons Technical in London, selling Miller tripods and fluid heads that looked very similar to the LP '54 Classic Tripod, which is quite remarkable when you stop to think about it," Mr Tondeur says. "All of their equipment is beautifully made and exudes high quality workmanship. I am surprised and honored to have won the raffle and receive this marvelous, rare collector's item."

AbelCine, Miller's exclusive authorized product and service center on the west coast, has been supporting filmmakers for 25 years. The recent company celebration hosted 400 attendees and included presentations, panel discussions and demos from leading industry professionals.
