Swedish Production Company Pioneers European Adoption Of iZotope RX 4

News Image
"RX is the plug-in that makes the biggest difference in sound quality on our projects, especially on projects with difficult production circumstances – be it because of location or budget. RX sets us apart from those facilities that don't have it," says Jakob Myrman, Sound Designer at Sofo, Stockholm-based TV, film and radio production company, Lillasyster.

Myrman was talking after the facility's decision to adopt RX 4 Advanced, the latest version of an Emmy Award winning audio repair toolkit developed by Massachusetts-based iZotope, Inc. to address the specific needs of TV and film editors.
iZotope's RX software system transforms flawed audio into pristine, usable material by removing noises, distortions, reverb, and other common audio problems. Launched this September, RX 4 and RX 4 Advanced incorporate significant new workflow-optimizing functionality, leaving more time for creativity in audio and video editing. For anyone in audio post production, broadcast, dialogue editing and mixing, independent filmmaking, or music production, RX 4 can make poorly recorded audio intelligible and ready for primetime.
Established in 2005, Lillasyster is a production company that supplies content for television, web, radio and cinema distribution across Sweden. The company supports every production stage from pre-production to online and delivery of both pictures and sound. "We've been using RX for around a year, mainly for general noise reduction," explains Jakob Myrman. "We use the dialogue De-noiser as insert on dialogue-buses and destructive on regions with the De-noiser module. My favourite though is the De-clipper, which is like black magic! Extreme clipping can be turned into high quality audio really easily.
"The decision to upgrade to RX 4 was simple. I'm really excited about the Ambience Match capabilities of this new system. As a TV and film editor, the ability to create fill in no-time is absolutely amazing," explained Myrman.
