Culture Minister Visits Elstree

Culture Minister Ed Vaizey has paid a visit to Elstree Studios to view the facilities on offer at 'Britain's Hollywood'.

Mr Vaizey was welcomed by Roger Morris Elstree Studios Managing Director and Cllr Morris Bright, Chairman of the Studios Board and leader of Hertsmere Borough Council, owners of the Studios, on 3 September.
The Minister was given a tour of the studios and shown the stages where a number of major productions are in progress including 'Episodes' with Matt Le Blanc, 'Strictly Come Dancing', where he met the show's producer Louise Rainbow and director Richard Valentine.
Nick Samwell Smith guided Mr Vaizey around the Big Brother site, currently hosting 'Celebrity Big Brother'.
Roger Morris showed the Minister the recently cleared back lot area that had remained dormant for over 30 years and is now earmarked for the Studios expansion plans.
Mr Vaizey was taken to the new Elstree University Technical College, which was set up to provide vocational education for young people in the Film TV and Theatre Industries.
Roger Morris said: "Ed Vaizey has been extremely supportive of the Film and TVF industry and the governments tax initiatives for the creative industry has helped create a boon for Film and Television and inward film and TV investment in the UK."
