China Mobile Selects AVIWEST DMNG PRO180 3G/4G Video Uplink Solution

AVIWEST has announced that China Mobile Communications has selected its DMNG PRO180 3G/4G video uplink solution to optimize the delivery of live video transmissions.

Installed by local system integrator Beijing Xingguang Film and TV Equipment Technologies, AVIWEST's DMNG PRO180 enables China Mobile customers to broadcast live HD video content over its 4G network while maintaining a superior quality of service (QoS) for viewers, even when networks are congested. The solution has been deployed by the predominant state-owned television broadcaster in mainland China for live events and breaking news coverage.
"While 4G networks are a cost-effective delivery medium compared with satellite, reliability can be an issue," said Xin Men, director at China Mobile Communications, Shanghai. "AVIWEST's video uplink solution ensures that real-time HD video content can be streamed to viewers over 4G networks without experiencing degradation in the quality of service. In addition, the DMNG PRO180 is a lightweight, compact product which makes it ideal for carrying in the field."
AVIWEST's DMNG PRO180 is integrated with China Mobile's 4G modem, and has passed an extensive series of bandwidth tests, proving that the video uplink system is capable of delivering exceptional video quality, regardless of overcrowded networks. Leveraging the QoS specification of the 4G standard, the DMNG PRO180 allows China Mobile to define priorities for certain customers or services when the network is congested. Using the video uplink solution, live video has been successfully transmitted from a variety of major events around China, including a marathon and an international conference. During those events, the QoS implementation guaranteed a defined level of bandwidth to the DMNG PRO180 despite network congestion issues, providing a superior QoS for viewers.
AVIWEST's DMNG PRO180 is an ultra-compact, robust, and highly portable video uplink system that features up to 10 cellular connections (eight 3G/4G internal modems with high-efficiency custom antenna array and two USB interfaces), in addition to a built-in Wi-Fi modem. Leveraging the unit's H.264 video encoder, broadcasters can stream live HD video with minimal delay.
Weighing only about 1 kg, the DMNG PRO180 is ideal for in-the-field use. It can be connected seamlessly to any professional camera via V-Mount, Gold Mount, or PAGlok plates. Designed with ease of use in mind, the unit automatically detects real-time network capabilities. Through a user-friendly and intuitive touch screen interface, broadcasters can configure and operate the system, and talk to the studio using the IFB two-way communication channel.
AVIWEST will showcase the DMNG PRO180 at stand 2.A49 during IBC2014, Sept. 12-16, in Amsterdam.
