DREAM start for Fairlight console

Following up on the AES New York launch of the Fairlight DREAM series of digital audio editing and recording technologies, the company have unveiled its new Fairlight DREAM Console.
The DREAM Console, the flagship offering of the DREAM series, is designed to provide professionals in the broadcast, music production and post markets with the industry’s most comprehensive, featured-packed, cost-effective audio production environment available.
The DREAM Console is a fully featured digital audio mix console with high-end automation and processing that provides the same level of operation and functionality found in dedicated large-format digital audio mix consoles.
However the DREAM Console also includes a fully integrated 48-track disk recorder and editor, and is delivered at significantly lower cost and with an even higher degree of user-adaptability. Furthermore, the Fairlight DREAM Console is based on proven technology and enjoys the benefit of Fairlight’s unequalled experience in producing integrated post-production systems.
The DREAM console offers 96 channels returned to 48 mix busses, with full six-band EQ and filtering and two-stage dynamics processing on each input simultaneously. This channel structure delivers into a multi-format bussing system, which allows simultaneous generation of multiple surround formats plus buss-to-buss mixing for multi-stem work.
As part of the Fairlight DREAM family of digital audio technologies, the DREAM Console is the routing and processing hub for complex post-production projects, reducing time and cost and increasing creativity and boosting profitability.
The architecture of the system allows configuration options for most functions, including fader assignment, panel orientation, buss configurations, dynamics operation, panning, auxiliaries and most other major features.
Central to the DREAM's design is the ability to access channel control and configuration facilities either locally, from a channel perspective, or globally from the central controller.
The DREAM Console is ready for any cinema playback format currently in widespread use, up to 7.1 channels. The monitoring system is completely configurable, and offers customisable presets for both CR and Studio monitor systems.
Contributing to the Dream Console’s intuitive ease of use, the surface features custom manufactured key switches and motorized, touch-sensitive rotary encoders, both employing tri-colour LEDs to clearly indicate each control’s currently selected operating mode. The custom switches and rotary encoders were designed from the ground up for smooth, precise operation with maximum reliability in the professional studio environment.
