Market debut for SteamForge at NAB
Digital Rapids Corp have announced the release of StreamForge, a new line of turnkey streaming media encoding and batch encoding servers.
StreamForge media encoding servers are the first products to combine automated video capture and high end, hardware-based batch video processing into one seamless workflow.
StreamForge solutions are based on Digital Rapids DRC-Stream hardware and telco-quality chassis solutions supplied by Crystal Group.
StreamForge servers have been designed for batch digitising of existing content through direct control of professional video tape recorders (RS-422 & GPI) as well as processing live video in to live streaming out and archiving.
Batch digitising happens at full broadcast quality allowing each encoded output stream to be fully optimised from the highest quality source material. StreamForge relieves the burden on networks and professional video equipment by recording once at high quality and processing subsequent files from the locally available media.
StreamForge supports encoding to Microsoft Windows, Real (Real 8), MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4 formats. Once batch processing of each file is completed it can be automatically copied to other areas of the network or uploaded via ftp to remote sites.
The StreamForge features professional video inputs including composite, Y/C, component, DV, and SDI. Each StreamForge server can be configured as analogue only or analogue plus digital (SDI/DV). Analogue solutions feature balanced and unbalanced audio, digital solutions include AES, DV, and embedded SDI audio.
StreamForge products feature powerful video and audio pre-processing capabilities with up to two channels of video processing and up to eight channels of audio. Each real-time hardware video processing channel features advanced motion adaptive de-interlacing, inverse telecine, high-quality scaling (shrink/zoom), cropping, proc-amp controls, 2D and 3D (temporal) noise reduction, and aspect ratio control.
Brick Eksten, President of Digital Rapids, said: "The StreamForge server is a real breakthrough in streaming media encoding. It not only rationalises the process of video capture, processing, encoding and distribution of streaming files into one seamless workflow, the quality of the output is superior to what is possible using traditional solutions, and its productivity is unmatched by any other system available."
