E\T\C UK chosen by BBC Scotland

Large format projection specialists E\T\C UK is supplying four 1.5Kw HMI projectors for the recording of “The Big Read”, a new television series being made by Lion TV in London for BBC Scotland, broadcast on BBC 4.
The projections – two per show, each of the featured authors and their respective book covers – are rear projected onto four screens in the studios. They dominate the programme aesthetics, and as the primary set pieces in a minimalist environment, are an important source of interaction for the presenter.
The programme is seeking to establish the UK’s top 100 works of fiction, with celebrities, politicians and assorted other VIPs invited into the studio to present the case and cast opinions on specific books. The public can also vote on their favourite books each week - via a website – which is proving very popular.
E\T\C UK was approached by producer Richard Shaw. He sought a no-fuss solution to get 80 different, large author and cover pictures up in the studio for the 20 programmes. Two pairs of books compete per show, and the changeovers are needed to be as quick and seamless to avoid wasting valuable studio time.
