dB Broadcast launch two new Hawkeye modules at IBC

dB Broadcast are to launch two new modules in their Hawkeye range of switching and monitoring products at this year's IBC.
The first is a new, ASI DVB transport stream (TS) data rate-monitoring module (BO48). The second is a new, dual transport stream packet identifier (PID) module (BO45-04).
The BO48 has two independent but identical monitors to monitor two independent asynchronous serial interface (ASI) transport streams and provide failure signals to a control system or 2x1 switch module.
It continuously monitors an ASI stream and gives warning of catastrophic errors, such as those caused by loss of synchronisation or low-level signals. It also carries out basic integrity checks of the ASI stream by monitoring the programme association table (PAT), uncorrected error flags and sync byte errors.
The special feature of the BO48 is that it monitors the maximum and minimum data rates of the transport stream and gives an alarm if the signal falls outside these values.
The BO45-04 is a variant of the established BO45 but instead of monitoring service information tables, it monitors two, customer specified, packet indentifiers (PIDs).
The BO45-04 is designed for continuous monitoring of two MPEG-2/DVB transport streams (TS) in a broadcast environment. These can be completely separate streams, or related streams arranged in a main and redundant configuration.
The module can be considered as a transport stream monitor with specific PID detection.
The card supports three alarms for each TS, which correspond to transport stream failure, PID A error and PID B error.
TS failure covers failure of the asynchronous serial interface (ASI) level, loss of synchronisation and loss of the transport stream itself.
The maximum upper distance between the occurrences of the PID is specified by the customer in increments of 10ms. The alarm will not activate until this values is exceeded.
Any failures are conveyed to the outside world by means of opto-isolated outputs, three per channel. The state of these outputs is mirrored directly by front panels LEDs. In addition, the transport stream failure alarm is also available as a relay output on each channel.
