Thomson wins Frost & Sullivan 2003 server award

The video server technology of Thomson is “the leader in the broadcasting market-and the company is well positioned to maintain its market leadership in the year ahead and increase its market share,” according to Frost & Sullivan.
The conclusion of a new study by the growth consulting firm Frost & Sullivan was reached as, for the second consecutive year, Thomson received the coveted Market Engineering Leadership Award for the Thomson's Grass Valley Profile XP Media Platform server. The Profile XP Media Platform won in the category of "Compressed Broadcasting Market for Video Servers."
Thomson claim that the Emmy award-winning Profile line stores more of the world's broadcast content than any other, and is the industry's most flexible platform, supporting multiple compression formats and standard- and high-definition (SD and HD) materials.
The Profile line includes SD and HD systems, as well as the new the PVS 3000 platform, which supports SD and HD materials on the same server and same timeline.
These advanced digital technologies will further strengthen Thomson's leading positions in key growing markets such as high-definition television and digital news production. By supporting highly efficient workflows, they will help broadcasters, cable, telecommunications, and video professionals make a more affordable and rapid shift to digital.
Frost & Sullivan spent 400 hours studying and analysing the server market. It concluded that the Grass Valley Profile line was the clear market leader, accounting for more than one third of the compressed video server systems installed worldwide at all types of media companies. It also projected that the server line's market share is poised for further growth.
