BVE North Returns...
BVE North 2013 takes place 12-13 November at Manchester Central.
Billed as 'the essential broadcast and production technology event in the North of England', it will feature more than 100 industry-leading exhibitors, many of whom will be bringing new technologies fresh from IBC to show for the first time in the UK.
Exhibitors include Sennheiser, ARRI, Cirro Lite, AC Entertainment Technologies, Cooke Optics, Miller Fluid Heads, Sonifex and Audio Technica.
In addition, three theatres will offer free seminars from high calibre speakers, both from production and technology fields, who will be sharing their expertise, opinions and advice.
James Rowley-Ashwood, Event Director, BVE North, said: "BVE North has proven to be a key event in the industry calendar where the growing number of broadcast professionals in the Northern regions can come together to learn, discuss, network and try out new technologies.
"This year's outstanding seminar programme brings business acumen and creative talent in equal measure, with a wide range of strategic and practical sessions in which visitors can learn from the best in the business."
The challenges of digital and cloud-based workflows will get a good airing in the Industry & New Technology Theatre.
Highlights include John Maxwell Hobbs, BBC Scotland, on the challenges of achieving a true end-to-end digital workflow; a panel discussion with Mark Harrison, BBC North and founding member of the Digital Production Partnership, Brian Hardman, The Farm North, Damien Carroll, Sohonet and Marc Allen, True North, on how facilities, manufacturers, content creators and broadcasters can collaborate to create digital workflows; and Stephen Streater, Forbidden Technologies leads a panel discussion with Donna Mulvey-Jones, Maverick TV, Eben Clancy, Timeline, David Boyle, ITV and Paul McFadden, Bang Post Production, on how production companies and post houses are developing new business models based on cloud-based workflows.
Other speakers include Philip Malcolm and Robert Hunt, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games; Taig McNab, ITV; and Tom Sherry, RED Production Company.
The new Ask The Experts Theatre provides opportunities to tap into the knowledge banks of some expert practitioners in their respective fields. Russ Hughes and Mike Thornton of Pro Tools Expert lead a session on High End Audio Editing on Pro Tools, while Phil Coates, Producer/Director/Cameraman and International Expedition Leader tells Big Stories, Small Cameras, looking at the power of handheld.
In addition, Hasraf Dulull's VFX Post session aims to inform visitors about the 'smart use of VFX' in their productions - not just monsters or CGI explosions but using VFX to reduce costs and achieve things which would be impossible or too expensive to do in camera.
The ever-popular Adobe Theatre will offer tips and tricks on a range of professional Adobe products, including an introduction to Adobe Creative Cloud, plus Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro and the collaborative scriptwriting tool Adobe Story. In addition, two BVE North visitors can win a 12 month subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud.
