Splinter Films create 'Trilogy' DVD for The Cure

The Splinter Films production "Trilogy: The Cure Live In Berlin" is to be released
on DVD and VHS on Monday June 2.
The four hour double-disc DVD features performance of three of the band's darkest and most critically acclaimed albums, "Pornography," "Disintegration" and "Bloodflowers," and encores featuring songs from the "Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me" album. The shows took place in Berlin's Tempodrom venue in November 2002, where the full-length albums were recorded in their entirety on two consecutive nights.
Nick Wickham directed the 22-camera concert shoot on High Definition video, capturing both the scale of the show and the energy of the music and performance. The huge dynamic range from classics such as 'Lullaby' and 'Lovesong', to the extreme intensity of 'Pornography' and 'The Kiss' are all given individual treatment.
Additional material for the DVD menus was shot on Super 8 at various atmospheric locations around Berlin, including the Brandenburg Gate.
The DVD also features hidden bonus tracks from the concert as well as in-depth interviews with all five members of the band's current line-up.
"It was a marathon event and really, a fantastic show," commented Nick Wickham. "The real stress was for the band, but I'm thrilled that they are all so happy with the film".
The film was edited by Mark "Reg" Wrench and Nick Wickham. All post production took place at The Farm group facilities, including offline facility The Shed, and HD facility Home. The separate 5.1 surround sound and PCM Stereo mixes were produced by Robert Smith at Olympic Studios.
