BAL launches stand-alone DV signal extractor

BAL Broadcast have launched a new stand-alone box to extract AES/EBU audio from serial digital video (DV) signals.
The product has been designed for use with digital video playback machines with limited audio outputs.
Some playback machines provide limited analogue audio outputs, yet embed all the audio tracks on the serial digital video output. The BALDEX01A can be set to extract two AES/EBU signals from any selected group out of the four available in the SDI data stream. This gives access to all the audio tracks available on the tape and industry standard XLR connectors can carry the digital audio signal.
The BALDEX01A accepts the SDI with embedded audio and gives two re-clocked SDI outputs. The user can choose to remove the selected audio group or to let it pass for downstream equipment. The unit also has an integral universal power supply.
The units can be used to extract synchronous AES/EBU from any SDI signal and they can be cascaded if it is necessary to extract audio from multiple groups.
