Cutting Edge exploit Omnigen's flexible still/clip store

UK test and measurement manufacturer OmniTek have announced that Brisbane-based Cutting Edge have purchased and installed an OmniGen system.
The sale was concluded and overseen by OmniTek's Australian distributor, Quinto Communications.
Cutting Edge, a postproduction and facilities provider, are using the OmniGen solution as part of a wider digital video installation at the Brisbane Cricket Ground - the infamous Gabba. First used during the England versus Australia Ashes Test in November 2002, the installation is being deployed to drive the large-screen crowd display monitors at the ground.
The OmniGen system is being used as a still store in this application. Computer-generated images with scores and a wide variety of statistics are imported via a server and appear as thumbnails within the OmniGen image browser window. Any still can then be quickly and easily converted to SDI video in order to be displayed on the stadium's large screens. The system's ability to take a whole sequence of computer images and replay them as a short, animated video sequence was also used.
According to Cutting Edge, the OmniGen solution provided versatile and easy to use still store functionality with the capability to rapidly import stills and animations from various computer image creation packages and output them as digital video at an affordable cost compared to other, dedicated still store products.
