Softimage system chosen by DreamWorks

Softimage's behavioral animation system, Softimage|Behavior, is being used by DreamWorks in the upcoming animated movie, 'Sharkslayer'.
Scheduled for release in 2004, 'Sharkslayer' will feature scores of digital extras, complex crowd scenes and schools of fish, whose primary choreography will be controlled by the Softimage|Behavior software.
Softimage's system is providing the DreamWorks production team with the ability to quickly and efficiently choreograph realistic 3-D animated crowds that behave in a natural and believable way.
The animation team at DreamWorks is using the Softimage|Behavior software to individually drive the behaviour of many of their digital extras. Each character can be controlled using a hierarchical finite state machine, which is designed through a combination of graphical editing, scripting and debugging tools in addition to a library of pre-defined behaviours.
