New Riedel MediorNet And Artist Platforms Unveiled

Riedel Communications has unveiled various solutions for their video and communications platforms MediorNet and Artist at this years NAB in Las Vegas.
The news for MediorNet includes the interface card for Grass Valley cameras as well as a universal video card and HDMI connectivity.
On the Artist side, Riedel announced new AVB enabled interfaces and iPad functionality.
MediorNet Grass Valley Integration
With the MediorNet expansion card for Grass Valley cameras, the concept of integrated signal backbones expands even further.
MediorNet is a real-time fiber network for HD video, audio, communications and data signals and the new MediorNet expansion cards for MediorNet Compact and Modular allow the user to connect Grass Valley LDK and LDX cameras to MediorNet, as well as base stations.
This provides a solution to route bi-directional camera signals, including all embedded audio and telemetry control data, through the MediorNet fiber infrastructure.
MediorNet’s network approach allows the free assignment of cameras to any base station or CCU within the network, providing unparalleled flexibility in setups and eliminating the need for re-wiring when production needs change.
In addition, the network’s point-to-multipoint capability allows a camera video signal to be routed to several outputs. Ultimately, the Grass Valley camera system becomes an integrated part of the MediorNet backbone solution, thus streamlining production scenarios in both sports broadcasting applications as well as in fixed installations.
The MN-GV-2 card requires a card slot with two high-speed ports, while the MN-C-OPT-GV-2 for MediorNet Compact fits into a MediorNet Compact Pro expansion slot. Both cards provide two Grass Valley ports that either connect to cameras or base stations. The MediorNet Grass Valley cards support all video and sync formats supported by GV LDK and LDX cameras.
New MediorNet Video Options
At this year's NAB, Riedel Communications introduced a new range of video cards for the MediorNet Modular and MediorNet Compact. The set includes the universal video card MN-HDO-4IO for MediorNet Modular and the MN-C-OPT-HDMI suite for MediorNet Compact Pro.
The MN-HD0-4IO is a universal input and output card offering four SFP ports that can be individually equipped with specially developed video interfacing SFPs for HDMI I/O, DVI or composite PAL/NTSC.
The new MN-C-OPT-HDMI cards offer HDMI connectivity for MediorNet Compact Pro frames. The MN-C-OPT-HDMI card is available in three different configurations: two in/outputs each; four inputs; or four outputs.
Artist AVB extension
This year's NAB also saw an update to Riedel's AVB suite with the new CPX-AVB Expansion Card and two new AVB Connect devices.
The new CPX-AVB Expansion Card fits into the expansion slot of Artist 1100 series control panels and provides full AVB connectivity.
For the first time, intercom panels can now be connected directly to an intercom matrix over an AVB capable Ethernet infrastructure.
In addition to the existing Connect AVB x8 panel interface, the new Connect AVB C8 offers eight AES connections on BNC. The device supports both bi-directional AES for intercom panels and unidirectional transport for broadcast AES. Riedel's new Connect AVB A8 provides eight analogue inputs and outputs on RJ45 connectors.
iOS Integration for Artist
The Artist Level Meters application can monitor and control up to eight freely assignable audio inputs of an Artist Digital Matrix Intercom system. The app gives the intercom administrator a new way to manage the 4-wire input levels of a system without having to be in front of a computer running the Director configuration software. The Level Meters can be configured wireless directly on the iPad.
