Wimbledon Film Expands With Wardrobe Facility

One of London's newest film and television complexes has announced its expansion with the launch of a new wardrobe department.
Wimbledon Film & Television Studios has launched Wear Wimbledon, a facility which will offer a costume hire service for film, television and theatre clients, as well as the public.
Wear Wimbledon will be headed up by the studios’ costume supervisor, Jen Davies who joined Wimbledon from Angel the Costumiers, where she was a production coordinator and supervisor. Davies has worked on a host of film and TV productions including The Paradise and The White Queen for the BBC, Snow White and the Huntsman and Captain America.
The department boasts over 45,000 costumes covering 8000sq ft. It has also inherited over 200 police and emergency service costumes from iconic police drama The Bill, which was famously filmed at the studios. The costumes have featured in a variety of productions ranging from Sky 1 series’ Starlings and Spy to BBC sketch show Watson & Oliver.
Piers Read, Managing Director, Wimbledon Film & Television Studios commented: "Our costume department has always been one of our main USP’s and now with Jen on board the whole department has a new lease of life. We have developed the studios into a fully-serviced media hub, acting as a ‘one-stop shop’ and the launch of Wear Wimbledon is a true reflection of the full-breadth of what we have on offer. Jen’s valuable experience and vision, together with the costume department’s assets is set to make Wear Wimbledon the go-to destination for costume hire."
Jen Davies, Costume Supervisor, Wimbledon Studios added: "The costume department forms such an integral part of the studios and now we are at a stage where it can reach its full potential. It has been a fantastic experience working on the launch of Wear Wimbledon, transforming the department into a solid business that is a real asset to the studios and the people that use it."
