Grass Valley Announces BVE 2013 Line Up
Grass Valley® will be appearing at BVE 2013 to present its latest contributions to end-to-end Live Production workflows.
BVE 2013 runs from February 26–28, at the Excel Conference Centre, London.
The group will be presenting live demonstrations of the LDX Series cameras daily at noon in the BVE 2013 Live Demo theatre. These sessions, hosted by Klaus Weber, Director of Product Marketing for Imaging Systems at Grass Valley, will include the latest solutions in imaging technology for live production using the Xensium-FT CMOS imager, 3G/1080p camera transmission and the business and operational benefits of being able to upgrade production formats and capabilities.
Steve Burgess, Solution Sales Consultant, Grass Valley, will also be introducing a case study presentation by Róbert Pálya, CTO, RTL, which will look into RTL’s deployment of GV STRATUS® nonlinear production tools and the transformation of its news media workflow. The session on February 27, from 1:30-2:15pm is entitled: File Base 2.0 in the News Room, and is part of the Broadcast Meets IT Theatre Seminar program.
The LDX Series enables customers to select the level of acquisition format they require, and as their production needs change, they can upgrade as required. The LDX Series camera system includes the LDX Première™, LDX Elite™, and LDX WorldCam™ models. Each has similar hardware out of the box. It’s the software that controls the acquisition formats and feature set of each camera. By upgrading the software, production capabilities are increased, with the ability to start with LDX Première (1080i/720p) upgrade to LDX Elite (adding 1080PsF) and further upgrading to LDX WorldCam (adding 1080p).
LDX Series cameras are based on the in-house developed Xensium FT CMOS imagers. While CMOS is used in everything from cellphones to DSLR cameras, its major obstacle for broadcast use is what’s called ‘rolling shutter.’ With its deep understanding of broadcast imaging, Grass Valley has eliminated the rolling shutter problem with global shutter behavior (similar to the frame transfer CCDs) and integrated multiple A/D converters, timing, and read-out circuits on the CMOS chip itself, delivering better power behavior and heat performance.
