Digital Rapids introduce Stream 500p

Digital Rapids have released the Stream 500p, a new portable solution for laptops that allows professional quality video capture, encoding, and streaming at remote locations.
The Stream 500p is an external expansion unit which plugs into the cardbus slot of existing laptops and is billed as the first laptop solution to support high quality video and audio pre-processing along with multi-format video and audio encoding.
The President of Digital Rapids, Brick Eksten, said: “The Stream 500p leverages the power, storage, and performance of the latest generation of laptops to allow professional quality video capture and encoding. With integrated deck control, tape logging, and embedded timecode functionality for Windows Media and MPEG-2, the user can now have frame accurate video capture and encoding in the field, removing an entire step from the typical capture, transport, and digitizing process.
“The direct to disk nature of the Stream 500p means that video can be ingested directly into the network back in the studio, or even transmitted directly from the field using wireless or broadband connectivity.”
