Billy Connolly Joins The Hobbit Cast

News Image
It has been revealed that comedian Billy Connolly is to join the cast of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit.
The Scottish actor and comedian will travel to middle-earth to play the part of Dain Ironfoot, a dwarf warrior.
Connolly joins a largely-British cast that also includes Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, Ian McKellan, Orlando Bloom and Martin Freeman.
The Hobbit is based on the novels of English Athour JRR Tolkien and tells the story of how a little Hobbit comes to possess the ring that features in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Indeed the three previous Lord of the Rings Films are considered to be one of the biggest and most ambitious movie projects ever undertaken, with an overall budget of £180m, the entire project took eight years, with the filming for all three films done simultaneously and entirely in Jackson's native New Zealand.
The film is due to hit UK cinema screens just before Christmas 2012.
