CES Reveals New User-Friendly Technology
According to many media reports the key theme of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has been 'user friendly' products.
For the first time ever the show demonstrated everything from phones to televisions showing how they have advanced or got smarter even without feeling more complicated.
For televisions, for instance, that means connecting to the internet so users can watch what they want, when they want. For cameras it means automatically uploading pictures to the internet or to a big screen.
For example, Sony's new models in its Boogie Camcorder Range can connect directly to the web. The Boogie 3D camera has two lenses and you can capture 3D as well as 2D high quality videos from it. The look is very stylish and graceful and easy to use illustrating how companies are making connections between devices seem consistent, strong and elegant.
Meanwhile Samsung is offering voice controlled TV as is rumoured for Apple. The jury is still out on whether companies are merely copying Apple or trying to keep up with the competition.
Apple is however still everywhere during the show despite the fact that they are not exhibiting. Tablets of all shapes and sizes are also flooding the CES show floor, ready to knock the iPad off its perch.
Vizio is showing off sets that will run on an updated version of Google TV, and Samsung, Sharp and LG all debuting sets with features such as "magic" remotes, it could appear as though many manufacturers are jockeying for marketshare before Apple launches its not-yet-announced television product or platform.
Voice technology is also a hot topic at this year's CES.
The International CES is a large consumer technology tradeshow. It features 2700 exhibitors and is running from the 10th Jan to the 13th.
