PBDS and SHS ship news system to Russian broadcaster

Professional & Broadcast Digital Systems UK (PBDS) and SHS Multimedia have shipped a $16 million integrated news, media asset management and robotic archiving system to Russian broadcaster, TV Centre, in Moscow.
The shipping followed acceptance trials in the UK of the complete integrated system. The equipment and software are now being installed in TV Centre's new broadcast complex and undergoing final testing, prior to going on-air later in the summer.
TV Center, based in Moscow and operating since June 9 1997, covers more than half of the Russian territory, a number of CIS and Baltic countries. The potential audience amounts to over 65 million viewers in Russia and TV Centre's programming is based around cultural, scientific, political, financial and economic events
The contract includes: a major newsroom system; a media asset management system controlling content from ingestion through to playout and archiving; four multi-camera studios - two with a Virtual Reality capability; editing suites; a robotic archiving system; an internet complex as well as transmission facilities.
The major system engineering project is being handled jointly by PBDS and SHS Multimedia. PBDS is responsible for the TV infrastructure with SHS Multimedia providing the information technology and software integration including the development of the media asset management system.
