Nevion To Launch H.264 Compression Solution At IBC

A provider of managed video services for broadcasters, service providers and government entities worldwide, have announced today an advanced H.264 compression solution for broadcaster and service provider networks to be unveiled at IBC (stand 8.B70).
Nevion's new launch with the VS904-AIE-GE modular H.264 encoder, allow broadcasters to deploy SD or HD video over bandwidth-limited infrastructures while ensuring the highest visual quality. Part of VideoIPath’s managed video services system and Nevion’s Ventura family of standards-based solutions, the VS904 provides SMPTE 2022-2 - compliant IP network interfacing or DVB-ASI outputs for deployment over traditional video networks. Providing state-of-the-art H.264 compression for SD/HD-SDI video, the VS904 has configurable rates from 2 – 25Mbp and supports High Profile @ Level 4.0 for HD applications and Main Profile @ Level 3.0 for SD applications.
“Ventura’s new H.264 solution enables the deployment of high quality video transport at much lower network speeds, making low bandwidth circuits relevant where they had previously not been,” said Eugene Keane, President of Nevion USA.
“The VS904 delivers 4:2:0 8 bit compression with best-of-breed performance - all within the familiar Ventura modular platform. With Ventura’s H.264 and JPEG 2000 solutions, video can be transported and scaled across all bandwidths with the right codec for the right application.”
Nevion’s compression schemes and VideoIPath’s managed video services across networks are designed to easily facilitate remote production and transport, a key capability of Nevion’s flexible and modular solutions for live global broadcasting.
