Indosiar Spans Indonesia With New Thomson Broadcast IOT Transmitter Fleet

Thomson Broadcast has announced that Indosiar, one of Indonesia's top three broadcasters, has ordered six new Thomson Inductive Output Tube (IOT) high-power transmission systems for its national television network.
The new transmitters replace Indosiar's existing Thomson transmitters after 17 years of continuous operation, and they will be deployed in Bandung, Makassar, Denpasar, Medan, Semarang and Yogyakarta during 2011 and 2012.
Established in 1994, Jakarta-based Indosiar is available as a free-to-air or subscription channel throughout Malaysia and in other countries in the Asia-Pacific region including Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
Tandio Santoso, Technical Director, Indosiar, said: "Our long-term relationship with Thomson Broadcast has been a happy one because of the superb reliability of the Thomson systems. These new IOT transmitters will provide the robust performance we have grown accustomed to, together with new features that will allow us to further develop our services."
Thomson is supplying traditional IOT amplifiers based on the industry-leading DCX Millennium series. The 80-kW transmitters for Indosiar will operate in common mode analogue PAL B/G using Thomson's Siriana analogue exciters with digital signal processing (DSP). The Thomson Siriana DSP automatically computers the RF signal correction necessary for the transmitter system, yielding unparalleled output signal quality and RF performance.
The transmitters will be configured with dual drive exciters and 2x40 kW redundant High Power Amplifier (HPA) technology for the utmost on-air reliability. Furthermore, the transmitters will be fully compatible with Indonesia's 380 VAC mains power system, eliminating external power transformers. Thomson Broadcast is the market leader in both analogue and digital IOT-based transmitters, having delivered more than 700 systems to the broadcast market around the world.
