th2ng Signs Leading Independent Film Director

Matthew Hope, the director behind new thriller The Veteran, has signed exclusively to th2ng for commercials and videos.

The Veteran, which will be released at the end of this month, tells the story of a paratrooper struggling to come to terms with life, post-Afghanistan. The veteran solider, played by Toby Kebbell, finds his unique skills with weapons in demand from the gangs on the housing estate where he returns to live, as well as from a secretive government agency. And The Veteran has to decide which side to fight for.
Matthew Hope began writing screenplays whilst working as a Production Assistant and then Assistant Director on films. In his early twenties, he co-wrote two independent feature films - Emotional Backgammon and Winter Of Love. He wrote and directed a short film entitled In The Field, an allegorical war film about a group of soldiers attempting to flee an unknown war. On the recommendation of Professor Hamid Dabashi of Columbia University, In The Field was shown at the Harlem International Film Festival in New York.
The Vanguard, Matthew's first feature film, was released in the UK by Lionsgate Films and by Anchor Bay in the US, where is has since become one of their best-selling titles of 2008. The film has also sold worldwide. The Vanguard also played at various international festivals including Dead by Dawn International Horror Film Festival in Scotland and Brussels International Fantastic Film Festiva, where it was nominated in the European feature film competition.
