Tannoy Speakers Boost Russian Church

A digitally steerable column array loudspeaker system from Tannoy's QFlex range has been installed to great effect in one of Russia's most recent new-build churches.
It is in the village of Usovo, on the western outskirts of Moscow amd is delivering great sound to a very difficult acoustic space and with the minimum of aesthetic impact.
Named 'Temple Spasa Nerukotvornogo Obraza', loosely translated as the Parish Church of the Saviour 'Not Made by Hands', the grand and imposing new complex was designed by the architect Vyacheslav Izhikov, and completed in record time last year - with the inaugural service taking place during August.
The construction project was initiated by the local community and funded by Rosneft, one of Russia's largest oil and gas companies, with support from the Russian government and the formal opening ceremony was attended by Russian Prime Minister, and former President, Vladimir Putin.
Tannoy's distribution partner in Russia, I.S.P.A Engineering, was brought to the project by main AV contractor, Moscow based SpecVideoProject (SVP), who had intended to specify another loudspeaker manufacturer, before discovering the exceptional capabilities of QFlex.
After initial discussions followed by a demonstration by I.S.P.A, it was agreed that the best solution would be to install Tannoy's award winning beam-steering system, with just a pair of compact QFlex 16 columns being all that was required to provide highly controlled coverage of the small but highly reverberant 250-seat worship space. Crucially, the installation of the QFlex 16s is highly discrete - minimising any impact or compromise of the delicate and highly ornate architecture of the temple's interior.
Outside the church itself, Tannoy Di5a self-powered surface-mount loudspeakers (in white) have been installed discretely around the entrance area, providing excellent full-range audio coverage for those approaching or leaving the House of Worship.
SVP were extremely satisfied with the results and were happy to have made the decision to switch specification to Tannoy, citing the exceptional acoustic control offered by QFlex 'straight out of the box' as one of the main factors as well as the world-famous reputation of Tannoy as a pioneer in loudspeaker development.
