Midnight Transfer acquire Telefilm

Midnight Transfer, one of Soho’s leading post-production companies has acquired the well-established telecine facility Telefilm.
Telefilm, which is based at Twickenham Films Studios, will become part of the Midnight Transfer group. Peter Watson, who has been involved in the industry for over 35 years, founded Telefilm in 1992. The facility has worked on some of the biggest films produced in the UK and Europe; current work includes 'Johnny English' for Working Title Films, starring Rowan Atkinson. Other recent credits include 'The Hours', 'The Gathering Storm' and '102 Dalmatians'. Senior colourist John Kerr, who has been at Telefilm since it’s inception, will continue serving his extensive client base and will be assisted by additional staff from Soho to help expand the company further.
Peter Watson said: “Telefilm customers always had a good word for Midnight Transfer. Our approach was the same – we do not just work film to film but closely day to day with the crews. I feel very strongly that a telecine service is a specialised discipline and I am glad to see that this is now being acknowledged more and more by producers.”
Midnight Transfer at Twickenham will be an extension of the existing facility in Soho and will continue to provide a complete dailies service to the film and television industry. The addition of the studio location will enable Midnight Transfer to offer a faster, more flexible service.
Midnight Transfer has a growing reputation as the leading facility in the telecine of dailies in either PAL or NTSC. Constantly embracing new technology, Midnight Transfer has recently installed an Avid Unity system, directly linking the telecine to all of its Avid cutting rooms, enabling editors to access material instantly as each take is recorded. Midnight Transfer is currently the only facility in Europe offering this.
Neil Harris says: “I am delighted with the acquisition of Telefilm. This now gives us the opportunity to service clients not only in the Soho area but also those working out of the major studios.”
