Prime Focus Launches New Datalab Department

One of the world's largest visual entertainment services groups, Prime Focus, has launched a new Datalab department to process their client's data assets for delivery within Prime Focus or to any other editing house globally.
The department will bring together existing knowledge and equipment from across Prime Focus' London facilities.
The Datalab will be able to manage any type of data and will offer clients a smooth workflow whether they've shot wholly or partly in data. The team will be able to assit them through their shoot, the transition from raw data rushes to offline media and the re-link back to their raw rushes for online post. They're also offering a scanning service for film rushes, which can then be combined easily in the same data workflow.
Dean Watkins, who is heading up the new department for Prime Focus, said: "We'll be managing the process at every stage to ensure maximum efficiency, cost benefits and the management of colour science. Our clients can drop off their data rushes overnight, have them delivered in the correct format to their offline the following morning and know that we're already prepared from that moment for their online post. We're also able to use our global digital pipeline to deliver data anywhere in the world."
The team will use a range of kit depending on what the job requires, which will include Baselight, Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer.
