The Library of Congress 'Books' Signiant

Library of Congress, the USA's oldest federal cultural institution and the largest library in the world has selected a pioneering software developer of content supply chain management solutions for upgrading.
Signiant's software will manage, automate and securely control the movement of the library's content, including millions of books, audio and video recordings, photographs, maps, manuscripts, and even social media updates such as Twitter feeds.
"The Library of Congress has accumulated unique relics such as photographs and recordings that unfortunately deteriorate over time," said Thomas Youkel, an Information Technology Specialist and Senior Systems Engineer at the Library of Congress. "Signiant helps us securely manage, move, preserve and share these priceless American treasures internally and online once they are digitised, and even helps us archive user-generated content from various public websites, including Twitter. Social media updates may seem like disposable bits of pop-culture today, but future generations of archeologists may feel differently."
