IDX 'In Reserve' At World Cup

A well-known manufacturer of broadcast power products is kicking-off its own 'soccer tournament camp' at the World Cup.
IDX Technology - the manufacturer and supplier of battery systems and wireless transmission, power suppliers and accessories to the international broadcast and professional video industry - will be opening a sales and service centre in South Africa for the 2010 FIFA event.
The centre will be based in Johannesburg at the specialist facility run by technology service provider Zimele Broadcast Services.
The centre has been set up to offer IDX product sales, service and technical support to all the broadcasters, news crews and freelance camera operators that will be covering the tournament.
It will be open from 1st June until 11th July and, according to Rob Waters, Sales Director for IDX Technology: "Cameramen and other members of the production team will rely heavily on their battery systems during the World Cup, capturing all breaking news stories 24 hours a day as the tournament unfolds.
"However well prepared broadcasters will be for the event, over 31 days of competition there may be occasions when power equipment requires attention or extra batteries need to be purchased locally."
He said that the centre will be located at Zimele which is a privately owned South African company with extensive experience in the broadcasting, entertainment and IT industry.
They offer a full range of services such as, system design, project management, turnkey solutions, maintenance contracts and consultation to the analogue and digital television, radio, satellite and audio visual markets.
