Film Council's UK-wide strategy launched at EIFF
The Film Council has announced its UK-wide strategy at an event organised at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
The strategy focuses on the commitment of the Film Council and its three national partners, Scottish Screen, Sgrîn Cymru Wales and the Northern Ireland Film and Television Commission, to addressing a range of different issues. There are various keys areas that the partnership has agreed need to be tackled; Creating a world-class film industry and a thriving film culture in the UK; Ensuring that the UK's crafts and technical skills lead the world; Supporting the financing, distribution and exhibition of films which audiences want to see and offering access to the widest range of films; Ensuring everyone has the opportunity to learn more about cinema; Preserving and making accessible the UK's film heritage; Creating a better awareness of the importance of film as a key driver in the UK's creative industries; Gathering information that will allow the agencies, the private sector and their partners to make informed decisions on the basis of evidence and knowledge.
The partnership also aim to reach out to other industry partners including the British Film Institute, Skillset - the Sector Skills Council, the British Council and others.
