Audience Blow For Cameron Interview

PM-in-waiting, Tory leader David Cameron has 'polled' considerably less than the Labour boss.
He failed to prove as big a draw as Gordon Brown to ITV viewers after an average of 1.7 million watched an interview with the Conservative leader last night.
That is compared to 3.8 million who tuned in to see the Prime Minister last month.
A peak audience of 2.7 million viewers saw Sir Trevor McDonald interview Mr Cameron in the programme, which aired at 10.15pm and also featured contributions from his wife Samantha.
That compares to the peak figure of 4.3 million who tuned in to see Mr Brown well up with emotion as he discussed the death of his daughter, Jennifer, with Piers Morgan.
The Prime Minister's interview, however, was aired immediately after Dancing On Ice, ITV's Sunday night ratings blockbuster, and benefited from an inherited audience of some seven million.
Mr Cameron’s programme, by contrast, followed the Sunday night news.
In his interview with Sir Trevor, the Tory leader spoke of how he considered quitting politics after the death of Ivan, his severely disabled son, last year. He also said he would sack George Osborne, his shadow chancellor and "good friend" if he had to.
