Winner Of Student Post Production Awards Revealed

A reseller of technology for the television production and corporate communications industries, has announced the winner of its inaugural Student Post Production Awards 2010.
Dillan Nicholls, a student at the National Film and Television School, scooped the top prize of an Avid Mojo DX system plus software and hardware for his two minute short film Toshiba Production Line.
The presentation took place at a reception hosted by Altered Images at this years Broadcast Video Expo. As well as the main Student Post Production Award there were prizes for three further categories:

• Best Music Video Award – Lonely Planet by Radoslaw Sienski, Bucks New University
• Best Documentary Award – Devil’s Footprint by Nick Flintoff, Metropolitan School, Ealing
• Best Fiction Award – Memories by Radoslaw Sienski, Bucks New University

Entries for the awards, which were sponsored by Avid and JVC, went through a stringent selection process that saw finalists selected by a judging panel of online editors from TwoFour Broadcast, Films@59 and respected industry guru Barry Stevens. David Johnson, Altered Images, Managing Director commented: "The standard of entries was extremely high and we were all blown away by the level of professionalism. This is an excellent way to highlight the work of students studying in the UK and to introduce the best talent to the industry. We would like to offer our warmest congratulations to Dillan and his team and all the other winners and participants that worked so hard to make an impression in this competition."
Jeremy Hoare, renowned Cameraman and Author of Through the Viewfinder gave a speech at the event. He concluded: "This is a difficult time for students who are looking for a way into the industry. Events like this allow work to be showcased providing a foot in the door to future employment. The best advice I can give to students is to never give up. Seek out contacts and be persistent."
